[enter-talk] I’LL TELL YOU THE ROUTE THAT IDOLS TAKE TO FAIL

1. After a few years, their skills are still the same as when they debuted
When they debut, even though their singing and dancing are lacking, they can still save it with a pretty face. They will have more fans than the kids who are actually good at singing or dancing. But as years go by, their face will no longer sustain them and if their skills are still of the same level, it will be like chewing a gum that has lost its sweetness. So people will just spit them out. On the contrary, if their skills end up improving, you will feel like a proud teacher seeing a dumb student ranking first in the whole school and your kid will appear even prettier to you.

2. When people dance sloppily
Idols have to keep up with their popularity while at the same time, deal with sasaengs, deal with packed schedules, etc. I understand that all of this is hard to do but seeing idols who don’t even dance properly while this is part of the basics of their job just turns me off. If they dance sloppily once or twice, I can understand that their condition might not be always top notch. But if fans see them always making mistakes or not focusing in a choreography, they can’t help but compare him/her to the rest of the members who are working hard. If you watch fancams of successful idols, you can see that they are dancing to the point of making their body break

3. When it’s obvious that the members are not close with each other
Nowadays, even in a small group, there are at least 5 members while big groups can have up to 13 members. So of course there will be people that they are closer to than others. But even so, I don’t think that they should make it obvious in front of fans. I understand if they look a bit awkward with each other but if they purposely show that they hate each other in front of everyone and speak bluntly to each other, it will just end up dividing the fandom. Meanwhile, there are also groups who ONLY hang out with members of other groups. That’s seriously a way to f*ck up the fans and will end up dividing the fans too.

4. If they interact with fans in the fan café, on SNS, V-app, etc. only once in a long while
Of course, idols use their fingers and words to speak their minds but in all formality, they should at least upload a picture or give some news. If not, they should at least do their best on stage and not have SNS from their debut to the time they disband. It’s annoying to see idols only talk with their fans when some issues happen and that they feel like they will start losing fans.

5. When you see that your idol does not feel attached to his/her group anymore
They earned a lot of money, did everything of the above, gain weight and stop managing themselves, goes play with their girlfriends all the time, goes clubbing… from now on, the members, the fans, the group are all a no-no! Personal schedules are the best! But then when they feel that money is running out, they will come back and realize that all fans have left them. Also, when they later get into a controversy, they realize that fans are no longer there to shield them.

There are more to this list but I’m too lazy

If they go on long hiatus and don’t give fangirl material, I just leave the fandom

If the members aren’t close with each other, the fans cannot stay unified. They all get divided into individual fans ㅋㅋ

Reading this makes me realize that even though my bias was in his heyday 5 years ago, he’s still popular for a reason

You don’t need any of these. The most common case of an idol failing is to do tours excessively overseas despite having no popularity nationally. This is a case for my bias. When they debuted, their fanbase was growing steadily but then because people overseas responded to them positively, they performed 3-4 tours overseas for a year. But then their fandom in Korea was only a handful for an instant… So even though a group doesn’t think that their national popularity is that big, they should still think national>> overseas promotions. If they endure it and focus on their Korean fans, that’s the only way for them to later see the light. If only my bias’ group’s company was aware of this, they wouldn’t have ended up like this right now
