Tokyo Olympics just revealed their Paralympic mascots. They based their decision on the look of future robots. Elementary students voted for the mascot and it grabbed Korea's attention.
Reactions ranged from : "Huh? These are Japan's mascots?" "Anyone can tell they were made by Japanese" "Not the best, but not the worst, just a very Japanese design"
to
"Huh, these are Japan's mascots? I can't believe it" "They're so good at drawing manhwa characters but why are their mascots like this..."
and
"Not sure where do I see it, but it feels so otaku" "It would've been nice if they just used Doraemon" "They're over 100M in population, but their manpower is still lacking?"
Most of the reactions are focused on comparing the Korean winter Olympics' mascots saying:

1. I feel like they wanted to choose colors to go with the 2 genders, but it doesn't feel Olympic-esque at all, but I guess kids would like these
2. So Suhorang and Bandabi were the gods of gods of gods
3. Too countrified. Why did they go for colors representing men and women
