In the early days of Produce 101 Season 2, Lai Guan Lin wrote a letter which becomes a controversy now because he introduces himself as someone who comes from Taipei, China.
Taiwanese netizens are currently showing their anger towards what he wrote back then, questioning why he wrote it like that.

There are some Taiwanese netizens who demand him to be kicked out of the show, accuse him for embarassing his own country, and even compare him to Tzuyu's incident.
In the opposite, Chinese netizens are very supportive towards Lai Guan Lin.
